Profhilo is easy to administer and takes only 10 minutes, with 5 targeted sites, or into area of concern. It stimulates different types of collagen and elastin due to the slow release of hyaluronic acid. It is this stimulation which is responsible for bioremodeling (regenerating itself), resulting in significant improvement of tissue quality. Treatment – There’s a 4 week interval between each treatment. The results from the Profhilo® treatment will most often last for up to six months, but results can differ for each individual.
Botulinum type A (Azzalure, Botox), is made from the bacteria that causes botulism. Botulinum type A blocks nerve activity in the muscles, causing a temporary reduction in muscle activity. It has been used in medicine since the 1970’s. Botulinum type A is used to treat cervical dystonia (severe spasms in the neck muscles), muscle spasms in the arms and hands, and severe underarm sweeting (hyperhidrosis). It is also used to treat certain eye muscle conditions caused by nerve disorders. This includes uncontrolled blinking or spasm of the eyelids, and a condition in which the eyes do not point in the same direction.
– In regards to facial treatments, it is used to temporarily lessen the appearance of facial wrinkles and lines. This happens when the muscles responsible for frown lines and crows feet are temporarily paralysed, thus reducing their effect of the skin. The effects of treatment starts taking affect after approximately 5 days and can last from 3 to 5 months depending on the patient.

Hot or cold, the sweating is constant and the impact of hyperhidrosis can be severe. Wetness and staining of clothes can make a miserable existence. In some patients, the masseter muscle, a chewing muscle, is enlarged creating extra facial width as well as potential dental problems due to excessive force on the teeth. Botox selectively weakens this muscle over time leading to an overall reduction in the size of this muscle.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance normally found in the skin, muscles, and tendons of mammals. As we grow older, we stop producing hyaluronic acid and this eventually leads to thinning of the skin. Juvederm was approved in June 2006 by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration for the use in removing nasolabial folds, or “smile lines,” creases of skin which run from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth. It is also approved for the use as a lip augmentation agent, and to fill in hollow places and scars on the face. All hyaluronic acid facial filler products are eventually absorbed by the body, usually within six to twelve months. It would be necessary for the patient to undergo repeat injections to maintain the younger look.

Dr Justus Dirks qualified at the University of Pretoria, South Africa and achieved BChD, MSc(Phys), BSc(Hons), BSc. After working in private practice, he moved to the UK. Further post graduate training in implant and cosmetic treatments were achieved in the UK, South Africa, Clinica Malo (Portugal) and the California Centre for Advanced Dental Studies (USA). Dr Dirks is highly experienced in implant and reconstructive dentistry.
