Osteopathy is an effective, gentle and popular form of manual therapy, which relieves musculoskeletal pain in adults, children and the elderly. It can be used to treat sports injuries, work related injuries (for example, pain as a result of incorrect desk posture), discomfort during pregnancy and many more types of musculoskeletal pain.
Osteopaths carry out careful clinical assessments to diagnose and treat conditions of the musculoskeletal system using gentle mobilisation, manipulation and soft tissue massage techniques.
Cranial osteopathy is a very gentle, subtle type of osteopathy where very light pressure is used to relieve stresses and strains in the body. Cranial osteopaths use a highly developed sense of touch to feel subtle changes through the whole body to diagnose strain or dysfunction. It is often used to help babies but adults often also find it very helpful too.
Conditions that can be treated osteopathically include the following:

Nicola is a fully registered Osteopath having studied a 5 year Osteopathy degree with eight years of experience in treating patients osteopathically. She is passionate about osteopathy because of the immense benefit that patients experience from treatment.
She treats the body as a whole and looks at the way that postural compensations can have a detrimental effect on the entire musculoskeletal system.
Nicola is also a qualified sports massage therapist, which has given her the ability to use this skill in conjunction with an osteopathic treatment.
Many soft tissue techniques including muscle energy techniques, soft tissue release and taping techniques can be used during treatment.
Nicola is registered with the General Osteopathic Council (Registration: 8454) and is also a member of the Institute of Osteopathy.
